Busy Day

I had a very busy day today.

I had four things to do at the bank (my bank is open Saturday mornings until noon), and I wasn't sure I'd manage to get there with enough time to do them (last Saturday I got there at 11:30 by the time I'd gotten myself together and caught the bus, and that wasn't enough time). But this time I got there at 10:30. I was nervous, because I didn't know who to go to or ask, but fortunately it wasn't busy, so I went up to a free teller and said I had some questions "about my home loan" (that was one of the four things), and she went and talked to another person and came back and told me to sit down and wait, and (the other person) would be with me in a minute.

So I sat, and the other person (whose official title was "Customer Service Representative") came and took me into her office and we sat down. She was very friendly and chatty, and we got through all the things on my list (plus changing me to a better "plan" for my normal savings account) in about an hour, and it was such a weight off my mind!

Then I went grocery shopping, and bought more fruit + veg + bread than I intended. Ah well. I should enjoy the organic bananas.

Then I went to the bus stop and saw that the bus wasn't going to be coming for another 20 minutes. So I walked home, very slowly and limping a bit. I sat on a bench in the park at the end of my street and sat quietly for a while looking at the trees before I went the rest of the way. But I was tired.

I ate some of the nice bread, and watched the first episode of "Children of the Stones", which I hadn't actually seen yet. The acting of the children was a bit clunky, and I wouldn't exactly call the storyline subtle, but it was a children's programme after all.

Then I started putting together the DVD-shelves I'd bought yesterday, only to find, to my great annoyance, that it was defective; some of the holes had been drilled in the wrong place. I'm not a handyman, I don't own a drill, and they jolly well ought to make things that fit properly! But it's depressing, too, I really wanted it to be all done and working. Now I have to take the jolly thing back. It was heavy enough lugging it home, I'm really not looking forward to lugging it back.

I'm not sure whether I want to ask for a replacement, or my money back. I really did like the look of the finished shelving, but I think they probably don't have a replacement, because I think I got the last one -- the only other one there was the demo model. And I'm really, really, really not looking forward to having an argument with the salesperson. (sigh)

It makes me tired just thinking about it. Well, no, I'm already tired.
