Doctor Who 3x05 "Evolution of the Daleks"
Apr. 29th, 2007 05:39 pmRather paint-by-numbers, this was. And there were some really stupid plot-points.
I mean, not just the stupid Dalek-hybrid stuff, but the stupidest of all, the Doctor "got in the way" stuff. He wasn't connected to the magic DNA machinery, he was in the power feed. Stupid stupid stupid.
Even the change of heart of Dalek Sek really made no sense. Not all humans have compassion, and the human that Sek blended with certainly didn't.
Stupid plot.
There were some nice moments, I suppose. Um...
Oh, I remember one! When the Doctor said to Martha "That's an order!" and Martha replied "Are you a Dalek?"
Was the Doctor really meaning to commit suicide when he told the Dalek to kill him and spare the Hooverville folks? Obviously the later "kill me" thing was intended to wake up the zombie-dalek-humans, but he had no evidence upon which to base a hope in the first incident.
As for next week, obviously they're back in Martha's home time. I wonder if he actually manages to get her back when he said he would.

The other interesting thing here is that the Daleks define their Dalek-ness by rejecting the hand of friendship, repeatedly.
But then, Davros was a psycho.

Oh and not getting through the ep without a mention of Rose. [bangs head on wall]

RTD needs to stop taking leaves out of fic writers books.
