Bah! I have just spent 3/4 of the day trying to get a 3-column layout to work for a web-page; the example worked perfectly, but when I tried to plug it into my layout, it stopped working. Boo!

What a stupid waste of time.

(sigh)

ETA: (three hours later) Well, I went away, did something else, and thought of a reason why it wasn't working. That wasn't the only bug, but I kept at it, and now it's working! Three-column layout with proper headers and footers! W00t!

Sympathies. It took me half a day (being a Luddite) to change my LJ to one of the set ones and then fiddle with it...

Sometimes I think the whole purpose of computers is simply to teach us humility...

Very little unless you know something called CSS, but I managed to put a washed out photo behind as a background and then match up colours and fonts and a few bits like that - and as I said, it took me ages to manage that...
