Gah! It is hot. I am not in air-conditioning right now. Not yet melting, but wilting.

20 minutes after I posted the above post, the power went out. On a 39 degree day. No aircon. *Nothing!*

Let's say I got to the melting stage.
The power was out for two hours. Some of the phone exchanges went out too.

On the bright side, because I missed my bus this morning and was working from home (the bus company had been misleading about what timetable they were using) it means that I don't have to deal with the huge traffic disruption the power-out has caused (because electricity out during peak hour -- on a 39-degree day...)

And I got to read a book. When I could concentrate on it.

Ummm, don't like icy roads, that is true. But I also don't like getting into a car that - even with tinting and shades and the whole kit - is so hot that you can burn your fingers touching the seat buckle. And the publicised worries about children being left in cars that even in the shade can get above 50 deg very quickly... that's scary.

Eeeep, you do have all my sympathy (we had a storm, but the power only cut out for a second. Three times, though...)
