Answering the first lot of questions from this meme

From [livejournal.com profile] sallymn:

The End of the World Is Nigh, and Daniel Jackson, Samurai Jack, Sapphire and Steel are the only people who can stop it. If they can work together. Can they? Who takes charge? Or are we doomed??

At first I thought, hey, this is a great team, of course they could work together. Samurai Jack is very polite, and Daniel Jackson is a diplomat. And so is Sapphire. But none of those three would take charge for the same reason. Which leaves Steel, who is not good at getting on with anybody. On the other hand, he's very good at working with Sapphire (they are a team) so the world would probably be saved, if the doom was something which fell within the expertise of Sapphire and Steel, since they'd do what they usually do: Steel would be the driving force, would push Sapphire to do what had to be done, and also leave all the diplomacy to her, and she would get the cooperation of the other two.

However, if it was something outside of Steel's knowledge, or, worse, if he jumped to the wrong conclusion about the cause of the world-ending, then we would be possibly doomed, because he would refuse to listen to these obvious idiots. However, he'd listen to Sapphire, and since she's psychic, she'd know that they were sincere, so she could probably persuade Steel to give it a go, unless, of course, he thought she'd been misled...

We're probably not doomed.

Spock gets a job working for Blair Sandburg. What does it entail?

Either cataloguing stuff, or talking about Vulcan culture (if Blair was in the Trekverse).

Kerr Avon and Samurai Jack are both trapped in a burning building (or some other suitable dangerous situation). You have enough time to rescue only one of them. Which is it? Would Steel make the same choice?

Arrgh! That's hard. Well, I guess I give the answer I usually give whenever I get asked whether I would save Avon or someone else: Avon, because he needs it more.

As for Steel, he'd either nonchalantly rescue both of them because he's superhuman, or wouldn't rescue either of them because he was the one who'd set the building on fire in order to prevent Time from breaking out.

From [livejournal.com profile] vilakins:

Whom would you rather write for, Jack O'Neill or Methos?

Methos, definitely. Sure, I like Jack, but Methos is both fun and devious. But, gee, it would be fun watching the snark-fest if both of them were in the same room.

If Cally, Miles Vorkosigan, Spock, and Dr. Gregory House met, who would get on best together?

Cally and Spock, no question. They have that alien psychic mystical vibe going. Mind you, House would probably find the other three medically intriguing, considering he has two aliens and someone with a long and strange medical history in front of him. If he considered them puzzles to be solved, at least.

Miles would probably *want* to get on well with Cally, seeing as he goes for fighting women. Cally... I don't know what she'd make of Miles.

What sort of pet would Jim Ellison have?

One that doesn't shed hair! A goldfish would probably be safe, and conservative enough. But then the sound of the oxygenator would really irritate him and he'd give it away to Daryl Banks, and get a nice, quiet ant-farm, which Blair would promptly knock over and break while he was beating native drums to loud music, and the ants would get everywhere, especially into the food which Blair hadn't cleaned up, and Jim would glare and make Blair clean it all up, but it wouldn't be done to Jim's satisfaction, so he'd do it all over. Then Blair would suggest Jim get a snake, which Jim would immediately veto...

I guess Jim isn't cut out for pets.

If Samurai Jack and Steel went into business together, what would they do?

Neither of them knows anything about business, so they'd go broke and go back to world-saving, which they're better at. Separately.
Unless of course, they had to go into buisness in order to save the world. In that case, Samurai Jack would find a mentor and learn everything he could, and be excellent at it, no matter what the business was, and Steel would be doggedly grim.

If the Doctor cooked a meal for Blair Sandburg, what would the Doctor make, and would Blair like it?

It would depend on which Doctor it was as to what was prepared.
(I'm not going to try to do #4 because Astro's version of that is unsurpassable.)

#3 would cook a Venusian dish, perfectly, and Blair would be delighted at the exotic cuisine.

#5 would make salad, which would be heavy on the celery, but also include strange exotic herbs and alien greens. Blair would start eating it with alacrity, but find that one of the herbs causes mild hallucinations in humans. #5 would wring his hands, fret and guilt about it, even after Blair assured him that no harm was done.

#6 would make a 10-course banquet, heavy on the protien, and eat most of it himself. Blair would taste every dish.

#7 would make a beef and red wine casserole, and slip some plot-devicium into Blair's dish when he wasn't looking. Blair would then be entangled in the Doctor's scheme to save the world.

#8 would persuade Blair to take him to Blair's favourite ethnic restaurant in Cascade, and they would both enjoy it.

#9 would go and buy take-out fish and chips from London, get distracted, travel for six months, remember the fish-and-chips, buy another lot, and come back with Blair none the wiser. Blair would make remarks about fat and cholesterol and fish bones, but eat it anyway, with enjoyment.

If Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson were forced to go camping together, would they come to blows or have a good time?

Well, I'm certain they've been camping together, both offworld and on, so, no, they wouldn't come to blows, but a Plot would probably come along and stop them having a good time. Or else they would have a good time, if Jack could fish and Daniel could bring some work to do, and they'd be quietly companionable.

Haha, I love #9's meal. :-)

Miles would probably *want* to get on well with Cally, seeing as he goes for fighting women. Cally... I don't know what she'd make of Miles.

An amusing pet, until she realised just what a good warrior he is, than an ally, though not necessarily a trusted one (he's too impulsive, like Tarrant).

I think she thinks of Vila that way. OK, not a pet, but not an equal either.

BWAHAHAHAH. Your "What would the doctors cook" is bloody spot on for all of them.
