Icons Crossing
Feb. 16th, 2006 07:28 amWell, here's another batch of icons from
tardis_icons, this time from challenge #26 and since I want to rave on about them, they're going here. Also because I'm only releasing two of them (and I will post that over in
ka_iconage).
Screencap Challenge. I only put one in here. As usual, this one got the most entries. There didn't seem to be any particular stand-out entry, the voting was spread, except for the "most-creative/unique" which had a two vote-lead.
| Rose: This is not happening Perhaps this is a little busy. |
Creative Challenge #1: the "temporary companion", aka the CROSSOVER icons! Yes, I had a great deal of fun with this, as did the other entrants. The stand-out winner was fantastic, swept the board. Except the rules are now that one icon isn't allowed to sweep the board, but it would have...
For these ones, I ended up also doing larger-size images, or, to be more precise, made large-size images, and made icons from them.

| Methos: Hoping for Bora Bora The tardis_icons challenge #26 creative challenge #1 was to make an icon of a "temporary companion" from some other fictional universe. So Methos got a lift, but it wasn't to Bora Bora like he'd hoped. (grin) |
Hoping For Bora Bora is the full-size image, and you can see a lot more. Actually, I altered this image and moved things around (and added the fog) after I'd made the icon. I think this gives a better impression of a cold disgruntled Methos grumping about not being in Bora Bora. | |
| 9th Doctor + Cally: Fellow Exiles This was an excuse to make another Cally-and-the-Doctor icon! |
Fellow Exiles is more straightforward than the Methos-and-the-TARDIS one; the icon is basically a cropping of the larger image. I tried adding extra stuff to this, but I decided that the starscape in the background was best left alone, and it didn't need anything in the foreground either. |
Creative Challenge #2: lyric challenge (Sting: The Shape of My Heart) This had a varied set of entries. I was surprised that (a) someone else also picked the same line as I did and (b) nobody had actually done the "jack of diamonds" line which I had been thinking of doing for a second entry until I got distracted into doing "Jack Harkness and the Temple of Doom". There was another stand-out winner in this one, it also swept the board; it was a lovely icon, well-composed and capturing the mood of the lines very well. (And it was a shipper icon, but I still liked it!)
