This weekend was a writeoff. Not even any good for recharging with. (sigh)
Well, I did bake a cake yesterday. Because the packet was in the cupboard, put there by my sister at Christmas, and I figured I'd better use it before it went stale. So now I have an evil chocolate cake in the 'fridge. (sigh)
And I did see two episodes of Samurai Jack. Even if I didn't manage to record them. Very simple plots, yes, but the character is growing on me. That face! I mean, he doesn't say much, but even though he's just animated, they concentrate on his expressive eyes. (smile). Maybe, not to say he doesn't say much, but the plots often don't call for him to speak, because he's by himself. I mean, this morning was a lovely one where the little bit at the start shows him rescuing a village and them thanking him, and then we have this long montage of him travelling long distances over varied terrain, and then at last he's drinking from a river in a verdant valley, and then he looks around, and sees ruins. And then you see him looking at the ruins, and flashbacking, yes, they are oddly familiar. They are the long-overgrown ruins of his home... and it was so affecting, and he didn't say a word. Very good.

Date: 2004-02-08 04:05 am (UTC)I don't watch often as it's way too shonen for my tastes, but I do love the Cartoon Cartoons animation style in general, and SJ has some really beautiful watercolour backdrops. And the episide where he loses his clothes is classic. ~grin~
