Well, I had an unrestful night, and half the participants in the finish-a-thon have piked out, and I've just spent the last hour leaving reminder-notes in people's livejournals, and Microsoft is an evil monopoly who have corrupted the computer manufacturers of Australia such that it is not possible to refuse to have a Microsoft operating system on a laptop one purchases (if you don't want the software, the fine print in the bloody contract says you have to return the machine).
I am cross. I am weary. I am depressed and discouraged. I feel like crap.

Date: 2006-01-28 10:57 pm (UTC)I'm wondering now... as I mention in my Author's Notes, the whole idea for this story was prompted by discussion on LJ of both PotW and Dalek, and people who expressed less-than-satisfaction in the plots of both of those, but I can't remember who it was who said it.
I'm wondering now if it was you in both cases.

Date: 2006-01-28 11:18 pm (UTC)I sympathize. Which always sounds silly, but the past couple of days have just been....yuck. I'm quite amazed I got anything posted to the ficathon, much less something that will rewrite quite nicely this next week, I think. That's one of the few okay things.
I pray you'll be sent some beautiful things, some life-is-good reminders, today.
Also? THANK YOU for doing this particular ficathon. Really brilliant idea. And should I wait till I've seen New Who (coming to the US SciFi channel in March!) before reading your story?

Date: 2006-01-28 11:25 pm (UTC)A toss-up, I think. One person read it without having seen New Who and liked it anyway, so obviously the plot holds together independent of continuity.
However, I think you would get a lot more out of it if you have seen New Who -- especially if you're the kind of person who dislikes spoilers, because the story has MASSIVE spoilers all over the place, especially for "Dalek" and "Parting of the Ways", both of which are better seen cold.
