Finish-a-thon progress

Well, I did get quite a huge amount done on the weekend, though not quite as much as I'd hoped.
Wordcount: 13389
Now I have the very last scene to completely rewrite (I'd done a version of it at the start, to know what I was working towards). This is the point at which the pigs are flapping their wings, gently dancing in the breeze, gambolling in the air and turning somersaults above the reader's head. If I can pull it off. "You, too, will believe that a pig can fly!"
And then this hastily written rubbish will go to the betas.

Date: 2006-01-22 10:33 pm (UTC)I got fed up with it last night and did some GIMPing. Your method of outlining text was easy to follow, but didn't give me the 1-pixel crisp outline I wanted. It comes out like a 2-3 pixel cloud. Do I need to change some settings? I googled and found another method I'm going to experiment with today when I get a chance.

Date: 2006-01-22 11:33 pm (UTC)Sounds like you did a "blur" step after doing the bucket fill of the layer below the text. That will give you a 2-3 pixel cloud. Sometimes that is the effect one wants.
That other method looks interesting. I may try it sometime.

Date: 2006-01-22 11:42 pm (UTC)The border shrink method worked well though.

Date: 2006-01-23 02:33 am (UTC)If I'd given twenty seconds thought to how long it was likely to be, I probably wouldn't have put it on the list, which means it probably would never have been written. I've never written so much so fast in my life!
(No, I don't think I could ever be tempted to sign up for NaNoWriMo...)
Which I've just sent off to beta.
Oh good, that means you'll be free to beta mine! (evil grin) I need you to tell me what South-West USA looks like. I've been deliberately vague, but local colour would be excellent!
*does the happy dance of completed fic*
I rejoice with you. 8-)

Date: 2006-01-23 03:14 am (UTC)Yep! Well, I'll need to fiddle with mine, probably, when it comes back, and there's this stupid Doctor Who fic I'm gonna have to write to get it out of my head, but I should have time this week, yes. :)
I need you to tell me what South-West USA looks like.
Something I'm actually competent in! Yay!

Date: 2006-01-23 04:32 am (UTC)Thanks!
If I'm very lucky, I'll finish it tonight, but that seems extremely unlikely, as I'm having overnight guests. Hopefully tomorrow. That should give you time to beta before yours comes back, maybe. (Kathryn remembers that it is rather long) Perhaps.

You mean you actually are going to write Nine/Romana? I shall be very happy (though not so happy if you actually do make it mpreg, that is just too wierd)

Date: 2006-01-23 05:05 am (UTC)I might have some time to look at it at work. Shouldn't be a problem, if you don't want anything too in-depth.
You mean you actually are going to write Nine/Romana?
I'm writing it now! It's rather pointless, but I'm hoping it'll make them shut up and leave me alone.
(though not so happy if you actually do make it mpreg, that is just too wierd)
I never said it was mpreg! Just that it involves a baby. Man, I really have gotten a reputation, if people are jumping to these sorts of conclusions. :)

Date: 2006-01-23 05:36 am (UTC)If it was too in-depth, I probably wouldn't have time to make all the revisions, so that's okay. 8-)

It probably only encourages them...

Oh, I know, but someone in that thread was trying to persuade you to make it so, and I wasn't sure if you'd listen, and I wanted to un-persuade you, if it was necessary.

Date: 2006-01-23 05:46 am (UTC)The very idea makes my brain hurt, and not in the good way. Heck, I can't even bring myself to make it fpreg. :)

Date: 2006-01-23 04:35 am (UTC)That's part of the fun of a finish-a-thon: you get to write stuff you think you'll like to write. 8-)

Date: 2006-01-23 05:47 am (UTC)Although in my case it may not have been a bad thing. I'm not sure how well that story came out, but I think it's at least kind of interesting, and I'd never have written it otherwise. Not in a zillion years. :)
