1. It's a crossover, or an AU, or an in-series snippet, or all three
2. ...yet at the same time it sticks as close to canon as it can
3. .. but it's in a fandom you've never heard of, or you vaguely recall from when you were a kid
4. There is no sex.
5. There is no major character death, unless they were dead in canon, and maybe not even then (that's what AUs are for)
6. There is a plot, unless it is too short to have one.
7. Trust is a likely theme.
8. It has tight POV.
9. And lots of dialogue without descriptions.
10. And lots of sentences starting with "And".
