Well, the planned LotR marathon... ended up making it a Not Good day for me.
My original plan for today (before the Marathon plans) was to go to Doncaster Shoppingtown to get a replacement Big Electric Pot (mine has died) in the January sales from a particular shop my father mentioned. So then we planned this marathon, to go over to my brother's place and start at 2pm and take in two of the movies. So I thought, oh well, I'll just shop at Ringwood Eastland instead, and then go to my brother's new house, which he assured me could be walked to from Eastland.
So I left home about 11:30 or so, and got to Eastland by bus and train and foot, and had lunch. Then I realized it would be stupid to shop for a Big Electric Pot, because (a) I didn't know if there was a suitable shop existing in Eastland (apart from Myers, which would be pointless because I could go to the one in the city anyway) and (b) I would have to lug it three long blocks to my brother's place. Okay, so there I was, supposed to shop, and not able to shop for what I was shopping for. So I shopped anyway, went to House to see if they had electrical, which they didn't, but I ended up buying a cast-iron grilling pan because it seemed like a good idea at the time, and then I went to a Linen store which had a sale and bought a beach towel and a bath sheet, because I only have one beach towel for going for my weekly swim and it's very old and ragged anyway.
So then it was about 13:40 and I bumped into my father, who had just said goodbye to Mum who was going to be marathoning with us; so I missed getting a lift in a taxi. So I continued on with my original plan to walk. Big big big mistake. Did I mention it was a top of 29 today? It didn't feel that hot because it was overcast, but I exhausted and dehydrated myself going up that long hill, and another hill, and another hill, to my brother's new place. I hadn't been there before. But I was all stressy because I was going to be late (and I was the one with the DVDs) so I just didn't dare let myself stop, turn back and get a taxi. Note that it wasn't just the climb that did me in, it was the fact that I'd already been walking around the shopping centre for a couple of hours, and I was already tired and my feet already hurt, and I just hadn't stopped.
But I made it up the hill, into the new house (which is a nice house) and got the weight off my feet and a drink.
Then their DVD player wasn't working. After poking around they concluded that it really wasn't working, it wasn't something wrong with the disks, so I suggested we decamp and go to my place instead. But of course it was after 3pm by the time we got there.
I was too tired to enjoy anything, so I kept on going away and coming back in, staring stupidly at my
tardis_icons entry icon, and then going out again. Oh, I downloaded some brushes too, but I don't know if they're any good. We had tea (takeaway chicken and chips) after Fellowship, and started in on The Two Towers, but by the time the first disk was done, it was 9:30, so we decided to give up, and try again another day. Oh, these were the Extended Version DVDs, by the way.
I am just so wiped, I can't do anything, except maybe whimper.

Date: 2006-01-16 08:26 pm (UTC)So this was all Not Good. So much for a good night's sleep. I shall be like a zombie today. Okay, only a quarter-zombie. A full zombie is when I'm falling asleep in the middle of the day, and I won't be doing that. It could be worse. As I said to my nephew yesterday, "I've felt worse. But you don't ever want to feel that bad."
(sigh)
