Well, "Necessity" did not win nor run-up in the [livejournal.com profile] smith_awards. (sigh) What is worse, the other one I wanted to win in the New Who Gen category ("Psycho Savior, qu'est-ce que c'est?") didn't win or run-up either. (sigh) And even worse, I dislike the one that won ("The Gift of the Mad Guy"). (sigh)

But yay for the winners in Classic Who Gen, Classic Who Het, and New Who Het. 8-)

Edited to Add: I hadn't realized they've revealed the reviews. So now I've read the reviews of Necessity (one negative, two positive) and I'm feeling happier.

Yes, I got one negative review, but since it was along the lines of "I hate AUs, this was a self-indulgent story by someone who didn't like canon" I think I can safely ignore it, because I know I wasn't writing it because I disliked the canon; I just wanted to explore a what-if. Mind you, considering that the people who liked Necessity said "read this if you disliked canon", I suppose the negative reviewer has a point, but it's a point against the existence of the story, rather than its execution, so I still think it can be safely ignored.

I can now also understand why "Psycho Savior" didn't win; it got an amazing number of negative votes, and I can see why those people didn't like it, because they felt it was out of character. Me, I didn't think it was out of character, I thought it was brilliant, but obviously our milages have varied.
