Better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick

Y'know, the next time I hear that patronizing lie that "people turn to religion because they want the comfort of not having to worry what comes after death", I'm very tempted to rejoin with "people turn to atheism because they want the comfort of not having to worry about paying for the wrong they do".

Gah! It is hot. I am not in air-conditioning right now. Not yet melting, but wilting.

20 minutes after I posted the above post, the power went out. On a 39 degree day. No aircon. *Nothing!*

Let's say I got to the melting stage.
The power was out for two hours. Some of the phone exchanges went out too.

On the bright side, because I missed my bus this morning and was working from home (the bus company had been misleading about what timetable they were using) it means that I don't have to deal with the huge traffic disruption the power-out has caused (because electricity out during peak hour -- on a 39-degree day...)

And I got to read a book. When I could concentrate on it.
