Bigger on the Outside
Nov. 25th, 2005 08:00 pmI have before me, the Special Boxed Set of the 2005 Doctor Who, Season One. And it has to be the most bulky and space-wasting boxed-set I have ever seen. More bulky than that silly Dalek tin (I may still have that tin somewhere; I think I used it to put slide-boxes in). And the only reason for making it so bulky, so far as I can see, is so that it could be made in the shape of a Police Box. You open it up (the attaching panel is stuck together with a magnetic strip) and you see... a lot of air. The four episode-disks are attached to the inside of each of the four "sides" of the TARDIS-box, and there is also a hinged bit of cardboard which has, on one side, a little pocket where the "Collector's Edition Booklet" sits, and on the other side is attached the "Doctor Who Confidential" disk. The whole thing could have fit into 1/5th the space. (sigh)
I'm still glad I have it, though. Well, I hope the extras are worth it, anyway. Where am I going to put the thing?
