Fruits of the TARDIS #22
Dec. 5th, 2005 08:51 pmNow that the voting is over, my entries to the
tardis_icons challenge #22 can be revealed.
Look here in my icon-journal, I'm saving effort by not posting them more than once.
Musing about the screencap challenge, I was totally flabbergasted to have won the "best use of screencap" section. By a fair margin too (4 votes versus 2 and 1 votes for the others). I was just trying to do something that I liked, that fit the context. And I wasn't inspired enough by the screencaps this time to do more than one entry.
The voting for "best overall" was fairly spread, and I personally didn't really have a favourite. The "most creative/unique" voting was fairly close, with the winning entry getting 4 votes, and the next closest being two other entries with 3 votes each.
Interestingly enough, the "open" challenge this time was really too challenging for people; the challenge was to "not be square", that is to make something that was not just your standard 100x100 LJ size and shape. Unfortunately, there were really only four or five out of the fourteen entries which really embraced the idea of "not square", and another half-dozen that were rectangular, and four that were square, which seemed to me to be rather missing the point.
The "best overall" section was basically voted on the basis of, well, what appealed to people and the least-square icons seemed not to appeal to people, which is rather ironic. However, the "most creative/unique" AND the best "don't be square" icon was won by the same icon; in the case of the "most creative" it was a landslide victory (9 votes), but the "don't be square" section was very close, with the winning one getting 5 votes, and two others getting 4 -- and I'm glad to say that my "all things die" icon was one of the two contenders. From the style of the other runner-up, I think it was probably made by the same person who made the winning icon.
Rather interesting, that the less-square ones were *really* creative, and the winner certainly deserved to win.
I certainly enjoyed the challenge myself.
