I'm wondering to myself, whether I should make a separate journal (or limited-posting community) just for posting (free-to-grab) icons to.
I did have a "free_icons" gallery on my scrapbook, but I deleted it, because it doesn't allow people to comment when they take them. However, it would still be nice to have a place where all my "free" icons resided (making them easy to find), especially since I'm feeling less of a need to make all my icons exclusive, yet I like making them so much that I think I'll keep doing it. Sure, I'm a member of [livejournal.com profile] b7icons and [livejournal.com profile] dwicons but I don't want to be limited to just B7 and DW. Wheras in an icon journal of my own, I'd be free to post any kind of icons.

If I do it, I'm leaning towards making it a community to which only I have posting access, because then I could use my scrapbook from this journal to post to the community, and I wouldn't have to worry about logging in and logging out again, I could just post stuff as [livejournal.com profile] kerravonsen. So it would be for my own convenience, not because I would want it to be an actual "community".

The downside would be, I wouldn't be able to make mixed free and non-free icon posts there, because all posts there would have to be free icons only. So I'd be doing duplicate sort of posts of my [livejournal.com profile] tardis_icons post-challenge icons, which I still wanna post here, because it's nice to do a post-mortem of each challenge, and a challenge-icons post could well be mixed free and non-free icons (because I'd still like to reserve the possiblity of keeping some icons exclusive that I made for that).

So... should I or shouldn't I?

::scratches head:: But what is the advantage over just posting them to your own journal? It just seems like more work to me, unless you're wanting a place to point people to that isn't your personal journal.

Oh. Well, then, I say do it right away, before you have any more backlog of stuff to go through and post.

I did once think of starting a journal just for my fic, but I'm too lazy. :)

The reason I would have one is so that people who only want to read my fic wouldn't have to see my personal posts. Also, I don't have all my fic on my Web site; just the stuff that (a) I think is fairly good, and (b) is over about 250 words. I haven't yet decided how I want to format and index the shorter items. Haven't decided those things about the 100s, either, which I really need to do, because I want to update this week if possible.

I think it's simpler to continue to post them here. It's easy enough to find them in your archives if you want to add them to memories; I did with mine. It also means that people who admire the icons others like me have snurched can find you by your LJ ID.

If you do set up another journal, put a link on your sidebar and in your user info so people who don't know you but see your icons can find it. Also, if you have more than one browser (I have Opera and Firefox for me and Vila, and Kerril and Dayna who post less share IE6) you can stay logged in to both LJs which makes it easier.

There, I've argued both sides so I'm no help. :-P

Don't be silly, arguing both sides always helps. Otherwise, it wouldn't be what we do best. :D

As it was, by the time I posted this, she'd already set up her new community (which looks very good too). I always work my way up from the oldest post but this isn't always a good idea. :-P
