... and nary a drop to drink
Dec. 4th, 2005 08:31 pmI'm wondering to myself, whether I should make a separate journal (or limited-posting community) just for posting (free-to-grab) icons to.
I did have a "free_icons" gallery on my scrapbook, but I deleted it, because it doesn't allow people to comment when they take them. However, it would still be nice to have a place where all my "free" icons resided (making them easy to find), especially since I'm feeling less of a need to make all my icons exclusive, yet I like making them so much that I think I'll keep doing it. Sure, I'm a member of
b7icons and
dwicons but I don't want to be limited to just B7 and DW. Wheras in an icon journal of my own, I'd be free to post any kind of icons.
If I do it, I'm leaning towards making it a community to which only I have posting access, because then I could use my scrapbook from this journal to post to the community, and I wouldn't have to worry about logging in and logging out again, I could just post stuff as
kerravonsen. So it would be for my own convenience, not because I would want it to be an actual "community".
The downside would be, I wouldn't be able to make mixed free and non-free icon posts there, because all posts there would have to be free icons only. So I'd be doing duplicate sort of posts of my
tardis_icons post-challenge icons, which I still wanna post here, because it's nice to do a post-mortem of each challenge, and a challenge-icons post could well be mixed free and non-free icons (because I'd still like to reserve the possiblity of keeping some icons exclusive that I made for that).
So... should I or shouldn't I?

No, it just means it's too much work. For me, I don't see the point of having a separate fiction journal, when I already have a fiction page on my website.

Date: 2005-12-04 08:45 pm (UTC)If you do set up another journal, put a link on your sidebar and in your user info so people who don't know you but see your icons can find it. Also, if you have more than one browser (I have Opera and Firefox for me and Vila, and Kerril and Dayna who post less share IE6) you can stay logged in to both LJs which makes it easier.
There, I've argued both sides so I'm no help. :-P
