Hello World
Oct. 31st, 2005 03:19 pmI am now on the 7th floor. Worse view, better kitchen, slightly smaller desk, probably more noise (though it's quiet at the moment). Still not a proper office, though it is better than a cubicle. And I still have a whiteboard, though I had to spend some time turning it from a greyboard back into a whiteboard.
Now I have to train myself to press "7" instead of "8" in the lift.

Date: 2005-10-31 08:25 am (UTC)Tomorrow, being a public holiday, I am going to camp out at Mum & Dad's place to get some work done on the darn charity story (argh!)

Oh, nice!
My new view is no view at all, I'm just looking at the building across the street, wheras my old place upstairs has prettier buildings to look at, as well as one can see the pretty trees in the street.
And, unfortunately, it looks like the cubbyhole is going to be hotter, because of where the window is positioned. And summer is coming. It's all very well having air conditioning, but when the heat is radiating through the glass of the window, it's still very warm, and shutting the blinds doesn't do much. Oh well, c'est la vie.
It's a better position in that I'm no longer isolated away from everyone, which will help me feel more like working and not feeling like I'm missing out.
Of course, the person who is now in my old place would have exactly the same problems as me, being in the same spot, but I think he's actually going to do better, because he's a manager, which means that people will have to come to him, instead of forgetting he exists.
I'm also pleased with my neighbours (the pair in the cubbyhole next to me) since they're also from upstairs and I like them, and one in particular -- well, she's on my flist, so you can see this is a Good Thing.

Date: 2005-10-31 12:40 pm (UTC)But thanks for the thought.
Hmmm. I just remembered that there was an air-blown heater still lying around upstairs from the time when the aircon broke down completely in the middle of winter and we were all too cold. I think it can be set to blow without heat. It might be worth grabbing it just in case.

Date: 2005-10-31 04:17 pm (UTC)No harm grabbing the air-blown thingy if it's going spare, just to see if it helps.
