Appreciation

Today is apparently "Beta Appreciation Day", and this time I'm actually not going to miss it! And I'm going to appreciate more than just betas, but all those who help put things towards the finished product. Mind you, things like drabbles and ficlets I usually don't bother to have betaed, but that still leaves some longer stories in the past year which benefited from their various touches.
First in line is
aizain, Brainstormer In Chief. Being able to discuss a plot and toss the problems back and forth, just by picking up the phone, has been invaluable. He's been a soundboard, a suggester of ideas -- indeed, I'm better at seeing the problems with the ideas than I am of thinking them up, sometimes. Virtual Lindor Chocolate for Jonno.
I'm not sure where co-authors go, but I have to say yay for
watervole, for the fun we've had writing filks together, as well as discussing plots. I'd send her virtual flowers, but it might not be good for her allergies.
mistraltoes has also been great with both brainstorming and beta-reading and encouragement in general. Virtual flowers also. Or virtual King Island cheese.
Virtual freshly-baked cookies to
reveilles,
vilakins and
astrogirl2 for betaing above and beyond the call of duty, for doing so fast, and for having all sorts of helpful suggestions which made things definitely better.
Virtual ice-cream to
starborn_scribe,
jhall,
lady_smith and
hawkeye7, for beta-reading, helpful suggestions and kind words.
I don't think I've left anyone out, but if I did, it was because I didn't write it down on the stories themselves...

Date: 2005-10-14 09:17 pm (UTC)LOL!
I wonder if they export King Island cheese? It is the cheese of the cheese, here. Though Timboon is probably even more so, since it's Organic. I am hoarding the last bit of Fetta I got from this year's Royal Show; it's the nicest Fetta I've ever tasted, creamy and fetta-y. Not that I'd say no to various other fettas -- it's like chocolate, there's more than one very yummy version, even thought they taste different (grin).

Date: 2005-10-14 08:41 pm (UTC)As I'm new to fanficery, your story was the first piece of beta-ing that I'd ever done. But it was a very easy job, since the story had already been polished to the point where there was almost nothing for me to do but read and enjoy.
