The Charity auction I volunteered for now has the listings up here.
Now you can bid for the right to have me write a story for you!

Note that [livejournal.com profile] tptigger, [livejournal.com profile] izhilzha, and [livejournal.com profile] fikgirl are also amongst the victims volunteers.

And I see that bidding has already begun. :-) Not on mine, though. Wow, if I had $$, I'd be over at Helen W.'s entry in the auction. Heh.

You do have 1 bid now! More than me. Though I boggle at the fact that someone has 13 bids already--$22 is their total now.

And I know what you mean about getting distracted...I've got two (no, wait, 3) other fics on the burner right now, plus an orignal script (oh geez, plus prepping for NaNoWriMo, *groan*).

Not sorry I entered the auction, yet. :-) But I like your "victims" comment.

You know, I never promoted this on my journal. I just did it. Still taking items til Sept 17th so there is still time for promotion.

This is so cool! Can we do more of this sort of thing?

This particular auction doesn't seem to focus on fandoms that I'm really into at the moment, but honestly, if this sort of activity became in any way routine (like ficathons are routine), I'd be bidding a lot in fandoms I'm into. (I would probably even become a victim volunteer.)

I think it's an awesome way to raise money for charity, whether it's for a particular catastrophe like Katrina or more ongoing charitable causes, like AIDS in Africa, for example.

At the same time, I sympathize with your trepidation about losing your momentum on the fic you want to do for yourself in order to write to someone else's specifications. If this type of auction were more routine, I guess it would be like a ficathon in that writers would just have to determine if they have the time and will to set aside "their own stuff" in order to do something like this.

But really, I think we should have more of this. Thanks for sharing!
