Last night I watched "Midsomer Madness" for the first time. It's in Doctor Who's old slot, so I was aware of its existance, but hadn't bothered watching it. Alas! Why has nobody mentioned this show before? Where have you all been? Why have I missed so much of it already?

For those of you asleep at the post, "Midsomer Madness" is yet another detective/cop/murder mystery show. But not average. I kept on saying through the show "Oh I love the Brits!". Where else would you get, for example, the murder victim's racy diary having been written in Latin, and thus having to be translated by a monk? Sprinkled with gently eccentric characters, without a single car chase or shoot-out. Plus it's got John Nettles -- yay!

Don't know how much longer it's going, but I'll be watching it next week, I can assure you.

Damn. I missed it when it was on here and it does sound good.

It's called 'Midsomer Murders' here. I have some episodes on tape, but haven't had time to watch them. I look forward to it, though.

Too bad. 'Midsomer Madness' is in some ways a more interesting title.

The series is excellent. It was based on the books by Caroline Graham but I think the newer ones are only based on the characters not based on the books.
