Propelled By A Single Oar
Sep. 2nd, 2005 08:11 pmI have just finished reading "Ascending" by James Alan Gardner, which brings back the character of Oar from the first book in his series, "Expendable". It is, in fact, narrated by Oar, and that's half the fun. She is childish, vain, ignorant, egotistical, naieve, well-intentioned, and indeed, quite pretty, if one considers a completely transparent human-like being to be pretty.
So my brain, thinking about this and Multiverse, realized who would make the perfect match for Oar. Cat, from Red Dwarf. Absolutely perfect. (giggle)
Except that she would probably consider him ugly, because he is opaque. And he would consider her unfashionable, because she doesn't wear clothes. So maybe it wouldn't be a perfect match after all. But it would be very amusing, anyway.
