kerravonsen: Jarod investigating ice cream: Genius at work (icecream)

I've been delaying pulverizing the already-frozen tubs because the weather here has taken a turn for the wintry. And the thought of eating ice cream while my toes are cold is not really appealing. But I have made up some more ice-cream bases anyway.

Tub 7: Chai

  • 250ml strong Sticky Chai Tea
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Natvia
  • 1/2 teaspoon Guar Gum

**Tub 8: Chai Latte

  • 200ml strong Sticky Chai Tea (both from the same batch of tea)
  • 300ml low fat milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Natvia
  • 1/4 teaspoon Guar Gum

Tub 9: Pineapple

  • 450g can of pineapple pieces in syrup
  • drained the pineapple pieces, put in tub, squished it down
  • poured some of the syrup back, to cover the pieces

The rest of the syrup is in a little jar in the fridge, in case I want to use it for something else.

Tub 10: pea and mint!

  • cooked-from-frozen baby peas (500ml, minus a spoonful or two)
  • strong mint tea, enough to cover the peas (I drank the rest)
  • puree the mix
  • added most of a punnet of fresh mint
  • 2 tablespoons Natvia
  • pureed this some more

It is very green. I expect it will create cognitive dissonance when eaten.

So now there are currently five tubs in the freezer, which is the maximum I have. So I shall have to try some ice cream before I make up any more bases. But not when it is so cold! Look, it is currently 13C, in December, which might be warm for some of you, but it happens to be summertime over here! Is is the equivalent, for you Americans out there, for it to be 55F in July. In San Francisco.

I love fresh peas, but I don't think I could handle pea ice cream. The others sounds yum though!

It's cold here too, but also very changeable: Saturday was 26, yesterday 23, but other days are chilly. It's hard to plan or know what to wear.

Our weather org NIWA says that we should have a late (mid-January) but hot dry summer; maybe you will too.
Fruit (including tomato) crops are down because of a wet spring and lack of sunlight, and I assume it's the same there.

I heard! We had some in winter, but not at all like you did.
