kerravonsen: Loki being threatened with a knife (Loki)

Fascinating. In some ways it felt like a Doctor Who episode. With more swords and daggers. About a similar level of not-plans, though.

Well. I hadn't really expected a kind of cliffhanger like that. They're stuck on a doomed moon with no way off!

Again, I'm just going to jot down reactions because I don't want to be spending an hour on this.

  • So this answers a few of my earlier questions:
    • What is this power Other!Loki has? It's "enchantment" and she taught herself.
    • Is that what Other!Loki normally looks like? Apparently so.
    • And, yes, I was right that her bombing was a diversion so that she could get to the Timekeepers.
  • So, she calls herself "Sylvie". (Ah, so this is the "Sylvie" that people on the "Stark Expo" Discord were talking about.)
    • Presumably from "Silvertongue".
  • Differences from our Loki's timeline:
    • She was told she was adopted much earlier -- that could well be the event which caused the variance
    • She barely remembers her mother
    • She's been on the run from the TVA most of her life
    • This is QUITE different from our Loki
  • Interesting that our Loki basically says that this plan of Sylvie's which has taken years, is futile, because the TVA is too powerful to beat.
    • Note that this Loki, fresh from Avengers-1, has been beaten (by Thor) and beaten (by Thanos + The Other) and beaten (by the Avengers), he's not in a place psychologically where he wants to get into another fight against an unstoppable foe.
    • Sylvie is right, though, in saying that Loki doesn't know what he wants.
  • Just fascinating, the interaction between Loki and Sylvie.
  • Snark snark snark snark!
  • Not-plans.
  • Bad-ass fighting!
  • Apocalypse! With meteorites!

"I had to go back hundreds of years, to before she joined the TVA."
"Joined the TVA? But they said that everyone who works for the TVA were created by the Timekeepers."
"No, they're all variants, like us."
"But they don't know that."

Verry interesting.

Also consider this, from the first episode:

"How long have you been here?"
"I dunno, it's hard to say. Time passes differently here in the TVA."

  • Makes perfect sense that the TVA is populated by variants; after all, if they keep on taking variants out of time, that's a never-ending source of workers (the ones they don't kill, that is.)
  • If they don't know that they're variants... there must be some mind-wiping going on.
    • Which ties in with Mobius not being sure how long he'd been there, and with Casey not knowing what a fish was.
    • But it's not complete mind-wiping if Sylvie could trap that woman in a pre-TVA memory.
      • Though didn't the woman say "Hey, I remember this place! And I don't remember you." Implication: she normally did not remember "this place".
  • "Hundreds of years" -- time passes differently in the TVA.
  • I suspect that "Mobius" is not Mobius's original name.

Here's an off-the-wall theory: the Timekeepers don't exist, and this all a scam run by the "Miss Minutes" AI. Naw, that doesn't work.

More pondering. Here's the types of people we've seen so far in the TVA:

  • Soldiers
  • Agents (such as Mobius)
  • Bosses of agents
  • Paper-pushers

There would also have to be people behind the scenes who do the following:

  • Catering, food-growing, cleaning etc
  • Tech support -- which also brings up the question of who developed all this time-tech. The Timekeepers?

And I spent more than an hour on this anyway.
