Cally and the Doctor Universe

Okay, so I have agreements from astrogirl2 and lady_smith to collect their Cally & The Doctor stories, so I'm intending to make a page after I (hopefully) get redstarrobot's permission also.
I've been working a bit on more Posy plugins to make story-archiving easier.

Thing is, what are we going to call this series/universe/shared-world/collection? "Cally & The Doctor" is obvious, but rather plain. It would be nice to have something a bit more evocative. I've been looking at quotation collections but nothing has leapt out at me. It would be nice to have something which evokes the fact that they're both alone in the universe, sharing that aloneness together. If you see what I mean.

Ideas:
- Cally And The Doctor
- Companions In Exile
(can't use "Fellow Exiles" because that's a zine)
(can't use "Companions for Life" because that's a story title)

Suggestions?

(Oh, I've thought of a title for redstarrobot's untitled story, if she would have it: "Terminal Beginning") (ETA or lady_smith's suggestion "The Tenth Time")

I have utterly failed to come up with any better title suggestions so far, I'm afraid. :)

I'm musing over "Companions In Exile" because it isn't quite right either. While they both used to be exiles, technically they aren't exiles now, because there is no longer the place for them to be exiled from. And I don't think there's one word for "the last remaining survivor of his/her race".

Hmmm, "Companions in Survival"? Naw, sounds too bleak and pragmatic.

I like the word "companions", though, because it has both resonance for the Doctor (who has companions) and Cally ("companions for my death").

"Companions In Time"? Hmmm. That has some nice resonances.

Eh, I admit none of 'em exactly thrills me, but, like I said, I've got no better suggestions. (All I could come up with is "After the End of the World," and that doesn't have the right associations at all, IMO.) I seem to be having a bad time with titles lately... With the Multiverse story, I've resorted to a technique somebody told me about once: giving it such a hideously stupid and embarrassing working title that I'll be forced to come up with something better once it's done. :)

I think that's better than my idea, actually. And then that fits with "The Other Tenth Time" of course.

But that really only fits the Doctor.

But saying "the Doctor" doesn't tie it to the Ninth. OK, none of the others do, but I think saying "Doctor" immediately raises the question.

I do like "companions", because it's got resonance for both parties. I'd prefer "Companions for My Exile" to "Companions in Exile", but I think I like "Companions in Time" better than that anyway. The only word I could come up with for the last-of-their-kind thing is "orphans", but that would need something else to tie it to them.

I woke up this morning thinking about this and 'murder of crows' sprang to mind. Which led me directly to 'A Companionship of Exiles', though Exiles seems not to be very popular. Perhaps 'A Companionship of Travellers'? Which also makes me think a bit of the Canterbury Tales, though that's just my mind being its usual odd self. Hm. Or just 'Travelling Companions'. Hm.

Okay, I'm finally on top of things enough to deal with the backlog - sorry about that. Anyway, collecting them is a great idea.

I confess, I do rather like plain and simple. "Companions" works rather well, if "Cally & The Doctor" is too plain, evocative of both without being contrived.

Lemme think of a title for that story; it's okay to leave the story untitled for now.
