This is an Outrage!

ABC iView have taken down all the current season of Doctor Who before I had a chance to see the most recent episode. Like, it was available for less than 24 hours! They usually leave things up for a week or more! WHAT!
I suppose it was because it was the last episode of the season, but it's still NOT FAIR!
ETA: It was apparently a bug, not a deliberate action. The bug is now fixed. Whew!

SUUUUUUCKS. We really like her and quite enjoyed the first ep.

And "screencaps" would literally be photographs taken of a TV screen.

Date: 2018-12-11 08:22 pm (UTC)Unfortunately we live in a VERY remote community: 9,000' up on top of a mountain in the middle of a forest. There is no fannish community around us. So piracy would be our only option for immediate gratification, and I'm not keen on that. A couple of years ago BBC claimed they were going to release an Apple TV app that anyone anywhere could subscribe and see the entire BBC TV library, sort of iPlayer outside of UK subscribers, but apparently it has come to naught. And I can't subscribe to BBC America because we don't have a cable subscription: we had satellite, but cut it and went strictly with Apple TV, paying just for HBO and Netflix, along with Amazon Prime. Costs a lot less than satellite, but there's so many things we can't get without satellite or cable that it truly sucks. We have a DVD set of Sapphire & Steel, two of my favorite stars. Still haven't watched it. I'd so love to get a copy of The New Avengers, but the price is outrageous!

Date: 2018-12-11 08:50 pm (UTC)If you can cope with low-budget 80s special effects, and you like Doctor Who, I think you will love Sapphire & Steel. It has some of the feel of the more creepy Doctor Who episodes. As a friend of mine said "It may look like fantasy, but what they are doing is science, it's just a science we know nothing about."
Of all the adventures, one of them was a clunker, but the others were very good. Do see if you can watch at least one these holidays.

Date: 2018-12-11 09:14 pm (UTC)My wife is working tonight and tomorrow, so maybe tonight.... Tomorrow I'm planning on going to the observatory and doing some star shooting. I've got my snow suit on the wash right now! There's currently a comet in the sky, it'd be interesting if I could catch it. I can't see it, but with lots of 30 second exposures stacked, I have a shot. Oh, I started watching The Doctor back in very late Pertwee/early Baker days, I loved the cheesy effects! We got them in Phoenix on Public Broadcasting generally about a season after they aired on BBC. Some friends poo-pooed S&S, but I love Joanna and David, so maybe tonight I'll crack it open. Interesting story that still slightly ticks off my wife: her dad was a golfer. They were vacationing in Maine, and her dad went off to play a round of golf. Came back and said they paired him up with some actor named David McCallum. My wife freaked - her dad didn't get an autograph! She's a huge Man From UNCLE fan, at this time it was NCIS or whatever show he was in. I'm an UNCLE fan, never got in to the whole NCIS/Law & Order stuff.
