SSHG Giftfest

It has come around again.

I'm torn about whether I will sign up or not.
I made two works for the
sshg_promptfest, and put them up on my Etsy store, thinking that at least somebody in the fest would give them a good home... and not a whisper. I think it was even more deeply discouraging because there were folks who commented on my fest entries (before the reveal) that they wanted them... but obviously didn't want them enough to buy them when I pointed out (after the reveal) that they could...
This is deeply frustrating, because I find it really fulfilling to make wearable art, but since I've run out of friends to give my SS/HG works to (they have said that they now have too much to wear...) then the only other way to give them a good home is to sell them; to sell them at a price that actually reflects what they are worth. But if nobody will buy them, then what is the point of making them, if they won't be worn by anybody?
(sigh)
Hence, I am torn.

Date: 2017-08-21 01:46 am (UTC)As to the fannish Etsy items, I'm so glad you mentioned them again. I'd looked at them but was holding off to see if the prompter wanted them. Now that I know they're still available, well.....

Date: 2017-08-22 08:38 am (UTC)Y'know, I think I will. Have to ponder some prompts, probably shouldn't necessarily recycle ones I've given before which haven't been filled, since they've possibly been too difficult or too boring. (ponders)

Ah, that hadn't occurred to me. I mean, with a giftfest, yes, I would want the recipient to get first dibs, but I'd kind of thought a promptfest was different.
Now that I know they're still available, well.....
Whee! I was able to post them sooner than expected, because my brother gave me a lift to the post office.
squeeeeee!

Date: 2017-08-23 03:02 am (UTC)You may find that the chain is a bit long, depending on where you want the pendant to lie. I wanted to err on the side of "too long" rather than "too short" when I was putting the chains on the pendants, because you can always make a longer thing shorter, but you can't make a shorter thing longer... If you have trouble with it, you can temporarily shorten it by using a paperclip to connect two parts of the chain together to make it shorter. 8-)
