I Can Haz An Etsy Store!
Jul. 3rd, 2017 10:11 pmEssence of Eclectic is now officially opening its doors wide! (Already had "technical launch", but with not much stock on "shelves"). But today I finished listing all the stuff I had made before Continuum XIII, so there is STUFF. Go and buy it! (Or don't buy it, as you wish).
There's still more catch-up for me to do (about half-a-dozen finished pieces of jewellery to photograph, enter into my inventory, figure out good names for, calculate prices of, and list on Etsy) but I figure there's enough listed there that I can say "come in, and welcome!"
And tell your friends, too (grin).
It's mostly necklaces up there at the moment, but I do intend to make more bracelets, and add in earrings (at request of L), keychains (at request of D), and hairchains (at request of X). I think there were a couple more types of things on the must-make list, but I can't remember right now.
I'm not sure whether I will bother selling scrunchies, there doesn't seem to be much of a market for them. 8-(
Can I make a living from this? Don't know yet.

It's a hard market on Etsy, because there is so much good stuff there.
Some beautiful photos, though I think the Blind Poet photo may not be doing it justice.

Oh, great idea! Will do that.

True, but it's also a good market, because for many people it's the first place they go to when looking for handmade stuff. Also, the cost of selling there is much lower than other places.

Thank you! Yeah, sometimes you just can't catch what the real thing looks like.

Date: 2017-07-03 11:35 pm (UTC)I suppose I should try to promote mine, but I'll have to add some more stuff. At least I'm selling scarves at a local tourist shop (but that's all they'll take; nothing anyone else makes).

Date: 2017-07-10 06:27 am (UTC)On the other hand, the Craft Market at Continuum is at least a compromise, since one only misses out on one afternoon of the convention instead of the whole thing (as one would if one had a dealer's table). Even so....

Date: 2017-07-04 12:09 am (UTC)Do you make some (or all) of your own gemstones?
If by gemstones you mean pendants, then yes. If you mean gemstones (such as the Jasper octagonal pendant) then no. I do have quite a few semiprecious pendants awaiting turning into necklaces, but I won't be using pre-made chain for those, I'll be making the chain or necklace-cord myself (as I did with the Jasper pendant). For those, I'd be doing chainmaille or kumihimo or lucet-cord or something similar.
Polymer clay or resin?
Resin. Not polymer clay yet, but it's on my list of things to learn.

Date: 2017-07-04 09:07 am (UTC)Would you like me to figure out the postage costs to the Czech Republic? Then I could update my "posts to these places" info, if you wanted me to...

Date: 2017-07-04 08:49 pm (UTC)If you go to an individual listing, and click on the "Shipping & Policies" tab below the photos, it only has certain countries listed: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States. I'm not sure it will let you buy from me if you want to send it somewhere else, like Czech Republic...
