Since I can't post a poll on [livejournal.com profile] multific, this feedback poll for the Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel must needs go here. Participants, and those interested in participating next time, poll away!

From an inspiration point of view 'Fandoms I like' might be helpful, but I wouldn't want a rule that one can only write in those fandoms, since it would be a shame not to give minor fandoms a chance (stuff everyone's heard of to some extent, but might not consider to be a major fandom).

Fandom guidelines only, I think.

And go you for organising, and taking the trouble to canvass opinion after the fact as well.

Aargh, I wrote a long response to this, and somehow LJ ate it. Let's try it again...

I think 6 or 8 weeks is fine. I usually say I prefer 500 words as a minimum, but 750 seems to be OK, too. It's when it gets up to 1000 that I start deciding that means I have to have a plot and panicking. :)

I'm not actually sure keeping the authors concealed served much of a purpose this time. There were few enough of us participating that it was pretty easy to figure out who wrote what. (Though that was probably helped by the fact that we didn't know the identities were going to be kept secret, and a lot of people had already talked about things like what fandom they were writing.) I do see the point of concealing the authors, and it can be fun, but it's probably not terrible useful unless you've got a lot more people than we had. Plus, it would have been nice to be able to respond to the comments earlier.

I'm torn on the issue of requesting specific fandoms, as evidenced by the fact that I clicked several mutually contradictory answers. :) It would be very desirable for everybody to have a story written for their lyrics that's in a fandom they actually follow, but I'm not sure it's practical unless, again, you have a lot more people participating. (Or unless you limit the acceptable fandoms severely, I guess, which would probably exclude a lot of people.) Maybe you'll get a lot more people next year, which would be really cool, though I imagine you won't know how many until they actually sign up, which makes it kind of hard to decide on the rules based on how many you have. (And, I hate to say it, but the no-slash/no-over-PG-rated restrictions are probably going to really limit the number of people who will participate.)

Regardless, barring major problems I will definitely be in next year, if it happens! :)

I do think the comments-on-LJ setup was a good idea.

It did work well, I think! The only drawback is that we didn't get notices when somebody had commented on our story, but I kept checking back on the thread, which was easy enough to di.

I don't really care about numbers -- numbers aren't a measure of success, what's important is that people had fun doing it, and made some good stuff.

Absolutely! The only reason I bring it up is because I think certain things only work really well if you have a lot more people.

That actually sounds like a good idea to me.... the longer those lists are the easier things would be, of course.

That sounds like a pretty good compromise to me.
