1) Well, Avon is the easy answer, but I will range farther afield and say that you are Dr. Plaxton, because she's intelligent and decisive and adventurous and thoughtful in what appears to be an N way, and therefore probably very INTJ.

2) I'm torn between Daniel and Sam, here, but going to go with Daniel, strictly on choosing language over the hard sciences.

3) Giles: Thoughtful, well-read, dry, fighting for good.

4) Oh, this is so hard, but I don't want to bail on it completely... Frodo! Persistent against great odds, even in difficult circumstances and without reward or acclaim. :)

5) Don't know this one, sorry.

On Daniel and Sam... it's tough. But programming logic feels more like language to me than it does like physics or chemistry. Plus, you write, and you like poetry, so language is clearly important to you.

Also, can't quite feature you running around in fatigues with big guns. Can feature you studying hieroglyphs.

1) Don't know this show.

2) Sam Carter, mostly because you seem more imaginative and ready to consider new ideas and viewpoints (as opposed to stubborn!Daniel)

3) Giles, scholar, responsible one, whose role is every bit as necessary as the Chosen One's

4) Faramir. Geek (he is!). One who holds fast to what he knows is right, even in the face of disapproval or the temptations of power.

5) Don't know this either.

Faramir's probably my favourite character in the whole book. So I was particularly annoyed by the way that he was portrayed in the film.

4) - Shelob.

Okay, so I'm in one of those moods today...

Based on only a very brief acquaintance, and limiting myself to LotR because it's the only one of the five with which I'm sufficiently familar, I'd say Gandalf. That's because you sometimes appear rather stern, but there's also a sense of fun evident as well. (By the same token, if we were doing incarnations of the Doctor you would probably be William Hartnell's.)

Yep. Nobody could twinkle as effectively as Hartnell.
