Well, a nice thing that happened yesterday; I found a spirograph plugin for the Gimp, called "Spyrogimp". It's there on the site, in the plugin registry. I'd gotten prompted to go off and look for a spirograph program when my random background came up with an old image I'd generated using an old DOS program I'd had on my first PC, called "spiroplot", and I wondered if any similar programs existed that could run on Linux. After finding one or two Java applets and a python program, it occurred to me to look and see if there was a Gimp plugin, which would be the most convenient of all.

And I found it, as I said. However, I have to complain, wishing to wring their necks.
Nowhere on the website could I find any instructions as to how to install the thing! I figured maybe I should put it in the ~/.gimp-1.2/plug-ins directory as it was a plug-in (well, it was in the plug-in registry, wasn't it?) but I eventually worked out, with help from a friend, that it should go in the ~/.gimp-1.2/scripts/ directory, because it was a .scm (scheme) script.
Fine.
Now, if they'd actually bothered to say so!

But it is a pretty plug-in.

You know, I have absolutely no use for a spirograph plug-in, but it sounds like so much fun, I'm going to have to get it anyway. [G]

Well, considering that some of the pictures that the Nova sites page has, the ones that inspired me to start doing digital art more seriously, some of them have spirograph backgrounds, I didn't see why I couldn't do something similar at some point.
