Finished It!

Finally finished The Shawl today!
This has been an ongoing project since the beginning of this year.


Shawl by Kathryn and Tiria Andersen; 100% wool; loom-knit and crochet.

This was combined loom-knitting and crochet. First, strips of double-knit loom-knitting were made (some by Tiria, some by me).
Then I crocheted around the edges to neaten them.
Then I joined them with lacy crochet.
Then I crocheted all the way around with more lacy crochet.
And here it is, done at last!

I like that, I don't loom knit but it could be copied in hand knitting and I have quite a few odd balls that could do colour blocks. Thank you for poking mu imagination If I ever do it you will see photots.

That is lovely!! The colours are gorgeous and the combination of smooth knitting and lacy crocheting is beautiful. It's such a delicate design. Congratulations on finishing up this project!

What a gorgeous combination of knitting and crochet, it shows the strong points of both crafts: knitting, IMO, best for "solid" things, and crochet better for "lacey" things! And the variegated blues make it a real eye-opener.

Love it. It actually looks warm, as well, which most shawls don't.

I very much like to play to the strengths of different crafts; because they are all different and do have different strengths. As you say, crochet is good at lacey things, and at things that don't stretch, while knitting is good at solid things and stretchy things.
I'm so much a multi-crafter that I'm fortunate that I can pick and choose and mix things up. 8-)
