kerravonsen: Snape, Hermione: "Believe" (Snape-Hermione)
Another rec from the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange.
A Smudge of Red: vivid imagery, and Snape very much a bastard.

So, instead of reading either book, I've been catching up on the postings at the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange.

A Matter of Life and Death (crossover with Discworld) In the end, Death comes for us all. For Severus Snape and Hermione Granger, it came with cups of tea and offers of employment.
This was delightful. The tone was perfect Discworld, including footnotes and cross-references. Snape was in full snark, and Hermione was, of course, lost in the library...

Sometimes That's What It Takes Hermione despairs of Snape ever wanting her for anything more than running his errands. Until his unhinged physical therapist hits her with an untraceable curse and she ends up literally on cloud nine.
A grumpy and oblivious Snape, an unrequited pining Hermione, a completely deluded jealous woman, a difficult predicament, an efficient Harry, and a loyal friendly Ron.

The Janus Thickey Ward Bittersweet; finding peace and hope in a sea of dreariness and apathy.

The Mysterious Miss Granger Mysterious indeed; it draws you in not just with the mystery, but the meticulous detail of some things, and the bare hints of others.

A Mournful Rustling in the Dark Mystery with a touch of noir, deliciously subtle conversations, attraction, self-control.

I'm surprised how popular the trope of an amnesiac Snape is. I guess people like it because it gives him the opportunity to leave behind all his baggage and start anew, but I think I find it a little more satisfying if he can find peace with all his memories intact; losing everything seems rather too drastic, if he never gets it back again.

Edited to Add: Whom The Gods Annoy
I expected this one to be amusing, but then it took a right turn into touching and angsty as well as whimsical.

I have another rec! When I Cursed the Teacher. Delightful, funny, sweet.

If all the fic in this fest continues to be of this quality, then we are definitely in for a good time. On the other hand, I expect that there will be stories that won't be to my taste, no matter how well written, so there probably won't be uninterrupted gushing from this direction anyway.

The [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange is live! Go, read, look, for all your Snape and Hemione cravings! Of course, I suspect that those of you on my flist who are interested already know about it, and those who don't know about it aren't interested. But still...

Judging from the first three posts, it looks as if we'll be getting a mix of Adult-rated fic, art, and non-adult-rated. Let the reader beware; check the ratings. The rating-warnings on the posts are not very helpful, since ALL posts appear to be warning for adult-rated content; I guess that's the default for the comm.

First rec: Third Star To The Right.
kerravonsen: hand stretching up: "Help!" (Help!)
My extremely late [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange story is in desperate need of a very fast beta-reader. It is a long story, alas (16000 words), and I need to get it to the mods before the 31st of May. Canon-picking would be especially appreciated, since I don't want to have stupid mistakes which I might have overlooked due to not having read the Harry Potter books recently enough. Help! Help!
