Speaking as someone who's been waging a one-woman war on Wal-Mart (haha say that ten times fast), I have to agree. Does boycotting Wal-Mart make me feel better about myself as a person? Hell, yeah. But does it end what is virtually slave labor in third-world countries or bring back all the small-town stores that have been closed by Wal-Mart's cheaper [ie based on slave labor] prices? Hell, no.

I am incredibly pleased that the blackout was so effective. But I spent the past four years working in the accounting office of a Fortune 100 company, and I know that when the company hits hard times, the CEO is still driving his fancy BMW convertible, and it's someone who has been working her ass off to make ends meet who finds out her job has been made part time with no health insurance.

Bitter? ME? Heh.
