Today I achived more than nothing, though less than I'd hoped (some of it through bad timing on my part, oh well).

Achieved:

  • buying one bookcase and one set of shelving units (they were in different sections of Bunnings) both of which are put-it-together-yourself things.
  • Also bought a stepladder. This all with the help of my sister-in-law, who kindly drove their mini-van with back seats down, so said purchases could be taken home.
  • Also bought some water-based clear enamel and brush and sanding things, to paint the shelving units with, because they were bare pine.
  • took shelving things out of boxes, looked at how they were put together; black bookshelf in pieces all over lounge
  • sanded pine shelves
  • did first coat of enamel on pine shelves (oh, did it outside and it was a beautiful clear day) Okay, so that was about 1:30pm, what did I do after that?
  • Figured out what to give friend for birthday because friend had sent me birthday present and I always forget her birthday until she's already sent me my present (sigh) -- her birthday is day after mine. Decided to send her recently purchased CD I liked that I think she would like too (the Middle Earth album by David Arkenstone) and order another one for myself from Amazon, because wouldn't get here in time otherwise. Ordered CD from Amazon. Got sucked into Amazon and ordered a few more things. Wrapped present. Wrote card.
  • About 4pm dragged myself away, to go shopping at Shoppingtown to post parcel and get mineral turps (because had found old tin of Danish Oil and some boxes that needed painting/staining, but Danish Oil needs turps)
  • Got to bus stop about 16:15. Bus decided to be late. By the time I got to Shoppingtown, the post office was shut. (sigh). Bought turps anyway, and did some food shopping and ate dinner.
  • By the time I got home, it was getting dark. Sanded the now-quite-dry pine shelves, and put almost everything away.
  • Rang up Johnathan to see if he could help me put shelves together tomorrow, but he's angsting over astronomy assignments. We ended up chatting until after 10pm (grin) during which he completely demolished my intended ending of my Methos amnesia story; now I must think again. (sigh)

And now I write this journal. I'd hoped to have put both bookshelves together by now, but, well, them's the breaks. My mistake was going off to shoppingtown, compounded by going off too late.
Still, some things were accomplished, and there is still tomorrow. (yawn)
