Well, The Toe is worse -- it looks like it's gotten infected, so I am seeing the doctor again today. Yesterday I plunged more into Season 1 of Stargate, daring myself not to skip any episodes, even if I didn't remember them fondly. Which was a good idea, because even episodes I didn't remember fondly, had good bits in them I'd forgotten. The episodes I saw were: "Brief Candle", "Cold Lazarus", "Thor's Hammer", "The Torment of Tantalus", and "Bloodlines".

I'd rather disliked "Cold Lazarus" the first time around, because fans had overhyped it, and I didn't think it was that great, but this time around I was appreciating what a good actor Richard Dean Anderson is, and also how it must have been more tense seeing it unspoilered, since one didn't know what the agenda of the alien was...
I'm wondering now if I had actually missed out on seeing "Bloodlines" the first time around and forgotten, because there were a lot of things about it I didn't remember. And I surely would have remembered Daniel's... violent action if I'd seen the episode before -- that was a very telling character moment.
The other nice thing about re-seeing these episodes was the fresh and new reactions of Our Heros, like their reaction to Kendra in "Thor's Hammer".

yes, Daniel's hatred of the goa'uld is fresh and raw. It's a powerful moment for him and reminds us that he isn't always 'mr nice guy'.

You'll be pleased to hear that season 8 is going really well so far. I've seen three episodes now and they're rediscovered the humour that used to be so characteristic of the series. And there's lots of O'Neill too.

Season 8 is happening on my screen and is parallel with Atlantis.

Atlantis has a premise carefully rigged so the two shows don't interfere.

I'd rather not tell you what it's about - it's more fun to let the first episode tell you. I knew nothing and was pleasently surprised as I'd assumed a really bad premise and discovered a more plausible one.
