Doctor Who quote meme
Jun. 24th, 2008 08:26 amWhen you see this post, quote from Doctor Who on your LJ.
(so I went and updated my quotes file, didn't I?)
"D'you know like we were saying? About the Earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid, the first time they tell you that the world's turning and you just can't quite believe it because everything looks like it's standing still. I can feel it -- the turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, the entire planet is hurtling around the Sun at sixty-seven thousand miles an hour, and I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go...
That's who I am. Now forget me, Rose Tyler. Go home."

Date: 2008-06-25 05:54 am (UTC)Bought the Eccleston season on DVD. Thought the pros outweighed the cons, with some pretty decent episodes. Started buying the next season, with Tennant, but was Not Impressed At All by the Christmas one and hardly wowed out by the next few. So I stopped bothering.

Date: 2008-06-25 10:49 am (UTC)The only reasons I can think of for that is that
(a) they've seen Catherine Tate in other things and assume that Donna will be like that
(b) they saw "The Runaway Bride", hated it, and decided that Donna was going to be like that

Date: 2008-06-25 11:03 am (UTC)I'd never heard of her until she appeared in Doctor Who, though I've seen a couple of her comedy appearances since. They don't appeal to me, but I don't see any connection between them; I think she's played this part very well, and made Donna a very attractive personality. I do get annoyed when people insist on seeing actors as previous characters, especially comic ones; TV critics keep saying "The trouble is you keep expecting X to say [his/her catchline]", and I think "No, I never saw/heard that, and X is putting up a good and convincing performance as the character I'm watching now, so why should I care?"
