This Doctor Who interview meme was going around a while back, and I just found the file in which I'd started answering it. So I finished it, and here it is.

1. When did you start watching and why?

1975. We'd just moved to Sydney, and Mum said "There's this show that the Hickson boys like, let's watch it." The rest was history. The whole family would watch it regularly, weeknights, 6:30pm while eating dinner.

2. What was your first serial/episode?

I don't remember. It would have been a Tom Baker one, because that's what they were showing at the time. Then they started repeating from Pertwee onwards.

3. Which serials/episodes have you seen?

Almost everything from the Third Doctor onwards. I've only seen "An Unearthly Child" with the First Doctor, and I've seen only one or two of the Second Doctor.

3a. Favourite?

Favourites.

Old Who:Robots of Death, Warrior's Gate, Caves of Androzani, Curse of Fenric

The Green Death gets an honourable mention, because Dad keeps on teasing Mum about it, because she loathed the giant maggots.

New Who:Blink, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Girl in the Fireplace

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?

See answers to 1 and 3. I have also introduced my neiflings to it. And aizain and I like to have long phone conversations about New Who immediately after it airs.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?

Nine, Eight, Five; Four, Seven, Ten; Three

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?

Can't speak on One or Two, since I haven't seen enough of them. Six is the least favourite if one is talking about TV canon, but he is actually not bad in the Big Finish Audios.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?

Martha, Donna, Sarah-Jane, Leela, Ace

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?

Season 2 Rose. It's like they replaced her with a bimbo.

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?

Yep. Though I have a pile unlistened, I need to catch up.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?

Neverland/Zagreus/Scherzo, and The Natural History of Fear.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?

Evelyn.

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?

Some of the reconstructed episodes.

10a. If so, which is your favourite?

Not sure.

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?

I managed to keep up with the Virgin New Adventures until the first one with Eight, and then I just drifted away. Then odds and ends of them, including sporadic Missing Adventures. When New Who came along, I read a number of those (though they're shallower than the earlier novels).

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?

No.

11b. Which is your favourite?

12. Have you read any of the comics?

I think I read an Annual once.

No comment.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?

Yes. Though in the case of Torchwood S1, I kinda wish I hadn't. On the other hand, Torchwood S2 was actually good.

13a. Which is your favourite?

I can't decide. SJA is better than Torchwood S1, but Torchwood S2 has had some awesome episodes.

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?

The lost ones?

15. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?

Yes.

"What are your symptoms?" Owen asked.

"Headache, nausea and vomiting... so far."

"You've come to me about a headache?" Owen said. "Take two aspirin and see me in the morning."

"I did," Martha said. "That's when I threw up."

Owen smirked. "Sure you're not pregnant?"

18. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?

Not as such, but I've been to general SF Media conventions. Unless you count a couple of one-day mini-cons run by a local Doctor Who club.

19. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?

I put together a "Romana III" costume once, which consisted of a black trenchcoat, a black fedora hat, and a scarf.

20. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?

Apart from DVDs, tapes, CDs and books?
Two sonic screwdrivers.

21. Are you a fan of Russell T. Davies?

Some days I love him, some days I hate him.

21a. Steven Moffat?

He's written some excellent episodes.

21b. Paul Cornell?

He gets it.

22. What say you to Season 6b?

Eh?

23. The UNIT dating controversy?

People are worried about a few dates in a show which has three different versions of the Fall of Atlantis? Get some perspective.

24. The Blinovitch Limitation Effect?

Wibbley-wobbley-timey-wimey stuff.

25. Multi-Doctor episodes?

Goofy.

26. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?

It was so complicated, I don't remember it.

27. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?

No, but I'm considering it.

28. Have you met any of the actors?

Katie Manning is very bubbly and sweet. I've also met the actors who played Tegan and Turlough.

28a. Traveled to any filming locations?

Do you count Paris?

29. What do you think of "The Curse of Fatal Death"?

Totally silly, but in an amusing and affectionate way.

30. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?

I don't hate Adric.
