Once Upon A Time There Was A Title

You ever get those times when you come across a phrase that you think would make a good story title -- and have no idea what the story would be?
Well here's one: "The History Of Ever".

I dare you to come up with ideas.

Hmmm, well you could almost call that title an oxymoron. "History" pertains to a record of events. The word by itself then, with no mention of which record of events it is referring to, might imply a record of all events throughout all time and space.

"Ever" means "at all times." Again, as a word by itself, encompasses all of time. But "ever" needs a reference point. That point is the mention of a record of history, such as "Have you ever flown a kite?" This narrows "ever" down to specific moments in time when the questioned person has flown a kite.

But, if the reference point for "ever" is "history" and the record of events for "history" is "ever" then, IMHO, "The History of Ever" would be a story about all time and all space of everything that has ever happened since the beginning of time, if, in fact, time has a beginning.

OK, so maybe this was not an idea for a story, but at least it clarifies the scope the story needs to cover.

Hm. If you go with the theory that no matter how much you try to change a given timeline, it has a tendency to return to its 'ideal' or 'stable' state, then 'Ever' could be all those events which must happen in a given timeline; the anchor points, so to speak.
