An Unexpectedly Nice Weekend
Jan. 19th, 2004 03:11 pmSometimes cool things happen out of the blue. Like this weekend. Got a phone call at 19:40 on Saturday (the main occupation of the day being doing beading while listening to "The One Doctor" which was silly-fun) and it was my friend Adrienne, calling from the nearest main intersection to where I live. Haven't seen her for at least a year, and not great at keeping in contact with her, so it was good to hear from her. Naturally invited her to drop in, she suggested bringing takeaway... and it went on from there. What with one thing and another, she stayed the rest of the weekend, and only drove off home (for her, a 2 1/2 hour drive) this morning.
So what did we do? Well we talked -- a lot. We listened to cool Gospel and African music (some of it hers, some of it mine). She admired the beadwork I was doing; we looked at beading websites. She looked through my free-to-a-good-home book box. We braved the configurations of Yahoo. We went out to lunch at La Porcetta and didn't get back until midafternoon. We watched Wierd Al Yankovic video clips on my DVD player. We had a simple dinner of soup and bread. We played one game of Elfenland; I won, but she said that next time it wouldn't be so easy because she had the hang of it now...
So. Cool. Unexpected.
Also tiring because I kept on staying up too late.
