On the Fourth Day of Christmas...

my true friend sent to me...
a parcel full of Christmas cookies!
For my own and
mistraltoes' records, here are the contents:
- lots and lots of popcorn (which I am not going to eat, sorry)
- aluminium foil
- waxed paper
In the top layer of cookies:
- 3 gingerbread stars
- 4 yellow stars with poppy-seed sprinkled on the icing
- 3 "classic" Christmas cookies, in the shapes of a star and two bells, with decorative coloured piped icing
- 3 coconut-y cookies
- 3 round pale-coloured with pointy cones of white icing
- 3 round dark brown with green icing
In the bottom layer of cookies:
- 4 rectangular with wavy edges, each consisting of two cookies sandwiched together with something brown and sticky
- 4 camel-shaped cookies (one of whose head had broken off, but I think that was the only casualty)
- 3 cinnamon-and-sugar-dusted cookies which had started their life off as rectangular, but had been sliced and curved, so that there were four sections, revealing a dark filling inside
- 3 round pale with zig-zag stripes of light brown icing
- 2 square shortbread with yellow sugar dusting
- 2 square shortbread with pink sugar dusting
- 2 round with jam tops
- 2 square with pink icing
As of this moment, I have eaten the broken camel, one of the rectangular sticky ones, and one of the shortbreads. No, make that two of the shortbreads -- that is melt-in-the-mouth stuff! Normally I don't go for shortbread, but this is lovely. Yum.

Date: 2005-12-28 10:56 am (UTC)- gingerbread snowflakes, check
- lemon poppyseed stars, check
- iced tea cakes, check
- I call these 'forlorn macaroons'; they're supposed to be macaroon kisses, but nobody here but me liked the big chocolate kiss on top ;-)
- checking my list, I think those must be rumprints
- and those must be chocolate-mint truffle-bons (last year's invention)
- caramel nut sticks, de-nutted for your noshing pleasure
- spice Spritz camels
- apple butter crescents
- brown sugar spice rounds with penuche frosting
- shortbread sparkler buds
- ditto, just a different color
- raspberry-almond thumbprints
- peppermint shortbread (this year's invention)
And no, you're not expected to eat the popcorn; that's just cheap, lightweight protective packing. Glad to hear they've arrived relatively safely.

caramel nut sticks, de-nutted for your noshing pleasure
Thank you! I can assure you, noshing the one I've had so far was pleasurable. And made me rather glad it was packed with popcorn, since some of the popcorn insisted on sticking to the caramel.
apple butter crescents
Are you sure? The filling didn't look very apple-y to me. I haven't tried them yet, though. I don't want to scoff them all at once. Not like Edmund and his Turkish Delight...

- gingerbread snowflakes
- shortbread (why is commercial shortbread so horrible, and this so lovely?)
- de-nutted caramel nut sticks
- apple butter crescents
- raspberry-almond thumbprints
