I have now cleared the decks in preparation for the Curtain person coming to measure-and-quote this afternoon. I've been doing bits and pieces of tidying all weekend, but the huge horror of my study was still untouched as of this morning. So I've been tackling that. Threw out lots of boxes, filled a huge garbage bag full of rubbish, moved some stuff around, shoved things into drawers and boxes, took my broken heater out to the garage, moved my bead case back into the wardrobe where it's supposed to live (but left the sewing machine on the desk), moved some bottles and plastic containers into the kitchen to be washed, emptied my Christmas bag into my Christmas box, put my modem into my computer-odds-and-ends box, and finally managed to mostly clear the desk. Then I clambered onto the desk in order to take the foil off one window, which my brother in law had taped up there with masking tape a few years ago when my study used to be the spare bedroom; he found the curtains too thin and taped foil to the windows to block out the light. I'd taken the foil down from two of the windows, but the third window was too hard to get to, as one had to kneel on the desk in order to get to it. But the foil is gone now (and ouch, it's not nice kneeling on a desk, no).
Ah, tired me. And it's still not a proper "spring clean" because there's still a few boxes of junk, which contain the stuff I shoved off the desk the last time I cleared it, and I have no idea what's inside them. Not to mention that the whole house needs vacuuming, but I'm not going to do it. (sigh)
