kerravonsen: Zen dying from gunk: "I am sorry... I have failed you" (Zen-failed)
(sigh)

Much computer brokenness today and yesterday. Last night I did something stupid on my main computer, though I seem to have been able to recover from it (and if I hadn't, I would have had to re-install the operating system -- yes, it was that stupid).

Today I have been going through the extremely long GenToo install process on my laptop, and I finally got to the "now you have a skeleton system, you can reboot!"... and it Didn't Work, in a "kernel panic" sort of way. ("kernel panic" is I suppose the Linux equivalent of the MS-Windows Blue Screen Of Death, except that it is so rare that this is the first time, in ten years of using Linux, that I have seen one). I know I must have set a wrong option earlier in the process, but I have no idea what. (sigh)

And it is past dinnertime, and I haven't had dinner, and I'm tired, and dispirited. (sigh)

Well, not quite a triumph, there's still a whole lot more to do, but I Fixed The Problem! Thanks to the Linux-on-a-Z60-ThinkPad pages:
http://fillmore.homelinux.net/Z60/Z60.html (got my kernel running due to his kernel config page)
http://www.figuiere.net/linux/tpz60t/ (provided that one vital bit of information that got my Ethernet working)

I gobbled down leftovers from lunch about half an hour ago. Yeah, I didn't eat, I kept working...

Must... go... to bed...
