Jun. 18th, 2004 04:39 pmThe now-ex ISP was iinet, which had been perfectly okay until they decided to get One National Number, and after that, it was as flaky as Dorian's dusty corpse. Not only could I not dial in, but when I did, it would kick me off, anything from two minutes to an hour later (average, ten minutes). They told me to get a new modem. So I did. If anything, the connection was more flaky with the new modem than the old. So this morning, where I am sure that my telephone bill will get a huge bulge in the number of calls made today, like, over a hundred, it was the Last Straw.
I considered going back to iprimus, which was the ISP once-removed, but then I thought I'd check out what connexus was doing nowadays, and I'm now going to be paying more... but, hey, if I'm going ADSL that would be even more, wouldn't it. I think I'm going to have to choose between ADSL and cable TV. Well, I don't watch that much TV anyway. I seem to spend too much money on DVDs instead.
Of course, I was even more irritated because my Toe Hurts. I finally mentioned the toe to my doctor when I saw him this morning, and he poked and prodded and jabbed things at it; it's now got cotton with some brown stuff on it, jammed into the toe and it's throbbing like anything, something guaranteed to erode my patience with incompetant ISPs.
Tonight I am going to be poked and prodded with electric sensors in the Sleep Lab of the local private hospital, to see whether I really have sleep apnea or not. I don't *&%%$&((** care by this point -- I just want to have a decent night's sleep! Several. In a row. So if it turns out that I have sleep apnea, I'll cheer, because at least that is a known problem with a known effective treatment. (sigh)
My mood is indescribable, because it is a cocktail of frustration, relief, pain, tiredness, worry, depression, hope, and did I mention tired?
I have been so tired this week that one morning I put on my shoes before my trousers. (sigh)
