Good news! My boss was walking around the office yesterday and said they might give me a glass wall and a door! He made a teasing remark about how I might feel like I was closed in, and I said I'd "give it a go". Now I'm paranoidly worrying that he'll take that as an indication I don't want the wall + door. Though the most important thing is what everyone's been telling me -- that they didn't assign my office space because it didn't have a door.
