Get yer crossovers here!
Apr. 17th, 2005 11:06 pmWell, I have taken the plunge, and signed up for Multiverse 2005.
I kept on changing my mind about my requests -- except for the first one, which is very appealing in an insane way... I know that I couldn't do it justice, but it could be quite fun if done right... But of course, true to the eclecticness of my tastes, my three requests covered six fandoms between them. No, I didn't request any triple-crossovers, that would be too much to ask for, I think -- though, oddly enough, I ended up with a triple crossover being written for me last year, as the writer actually fulfilled two out of my three requests (except now I can't remember why my original third request was now...)
I am not going to even wonder about what I might get assigned. I shall find out in due course -- and in the meantime, I need to do, yes, I need to do research for my Multi-Fandom Lyric Wheel story.
Actually, I need to go to bed and sleep first. And then work all day, and then get home too tired to do research, but...
Well, at least I typed up the scribble I have so far. Fortunately the original 150 words I wrote probably only need a little tweaking to fit the new story, which means I've got almost 300 words! Only 450 more to go... (sigh) Yes, I really need to do that research.

Yeah, so would I, they could problem-solve together; but I kept on thinking of other ideas, and that one got bounced to #4 after all my second-and-third-guessing. Likewise the Avon & The Doctor one kept on being on the list and off it again (only three choices!) and I ended up not having any Avon at all... 8-(
My first choice, as I said above, remained there all through my dithering. It was an evil choice which I couldn't write properly, but could be very amusing if done well.
But the other two kept on getting chopped and changed, because I was trying to think of things that not only would I like seeing, but that had a sort of sparkage which would be likely to inspire more people... and there was another SG1 crossover that I chose instead, but now I'm having second thoughts again, oh well, too late.
I suspect it's going to be hard enough to match someone who can do one of my requests, let alone have a choice between them.
Also the Doctor, but which one?
I don't much care, any of them would have been interesting.
And you've made me long for Soolin & O'Neill.
Ah, now that would be interesting. More interesting than Soolin/Mal, I think.
Well, is it too late to make that one of your requests?
Or Yoda & Cally.
Well... I didn't request Yoda & Cally, but I did request something similar...

I'll do that - *if* I sign up. First I want to get the Lyric Wheel fic done, and the Jarriere fic at least plotted; there's no point in digging a bigger hole until I know I can get out of the one I've already dug. Then I have to figure out what three space fandoms to risk saying I can write! There's B7 and, um... well, I'd probably go for Stargate SG-1 and Red Dwarf, but I've only seen the first five seasons of SG-1 and I've only got the first six seasons of Red Dwarf on DVD, so if I got Maybourne or something like that, I'd be messed up. :-(

And you may end up with a situation like I did last year, where I hadn't put down Farscape or Hitchhikers as my writable fandoms, but ended up writing a FS/HHGG crossover because doing Ford/Zhaan had more appeal than Leela/Cally (ugh, not femslash!) or Leia/Teal'c (which, while theoretically interesting, did not at all intrigue me).

Date: 2005-04-19 07:57 am (UTC)Of course in theory I ought to be able to write B5, Crusade, Andromeda, Doctor Who, and all the Treks, but I have no reference material for Trek, and on the others I'd have to rewatch a lot. So it just depends on how much time I can free up by finishing the other ficathons, etc.
Er... and then I have to remember to sign up. Ought to make myself a note somewhere...
