There is pain. Not quite like a spike being driven through my ear; more like an occasional jab with a blunt knife, plus someone applying a vice to my teeth (referred pain, how I wish you hadn't been invented). Two strong pain pills: nada. Third pain pill now taken. I think it's time for the hot chocolate. (goes off to make hot chocolate).

Ouch! You're killing me! Have you been to a doc?

Okay, this is a real long shot as I don't know much about the causes of your pain...

When I had bad pain in my wisdom teeth it turned out to be TMJ trouble.

Here's a set of easy exercises -
If your trouble is not TMJ, they will do no harm. If there is a TMJ factor (and when people are under stress, there often is), then they may well help.

TMJ can also cause ear ache. It occasionally did in my case.

Then again, if you're on antibiotics there's probably visible inflammation.

I have but one question; do you have access to codeine, and if so, has it treated you well for similar levels of pain in the past? Some folks react really badly to codeine, and some also react badly to its artificial analog, I know.
