kerravonsen: Crafty: a medly of beads (craft)

I have been busy this weekend. I made a present, and gave it. Another piece of my symbolic jewellery. The design for this one has been on the drawing-board for months, but I did no physical work on it until this weekend, starting it on Saturday and finishing it on Sunday.

Pendant: is from Shapeways, 3D-printed Bronze. The artist called it “Cubic Woods”, because his 3D fractal looked like the merging of a cube and of tree branches and roots.
Chain: is a mix of Bronze (WD=1mm, ID=4mm) and green Anodized Aluminium (WD=1mm, ID=3.57mm). The weave is called “Kirsti”. The extension-chain weave is called “Flowers”, and is a mix of Bronze (WD=1mm, ID=4.0mm) and Bronze (WD=1mm, ID=6.35mm).

Symbolism:

I made this necklace for hope and encouragement, for perseverance and endurance. The cube, and the brownness of the bronze, are for the Earth, whose number is four and whose colour is brown. Earth stands for endurance, perseverance, and strength, the strength and endurance of mountains. The pendant also portrays trees, and the chain is made to look like a green vine climbing. Trees and vines are for hope and for life, and also for strength and perseverance, as trees root deeply into the earth and vines cling (and get everywhere!)
