Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day 1

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Remember that we're using the term fanwork in the broadest sense of the word here - things like episode guides, meta, canon timelines, thematic lists, recs, fandom overviews, picspams, discussion posts, etc totally count.

I don't want to do the same recs as I did last year, so I won't.

I would like to put "the work I did for the 2012 SSHG Exchange" in this list, but since the reveals haven't happened yet, I can't. Suffice to say, it was a creative challenge, and I'm very pleased with the result, even though I can't yet point to it and say "I made this!"

So, on to the recs I can actually make.

1) Embodyment of Hope (Sandman/Narnia) (408 words)
Aslan meets Despair of the Endless, and she is comforted.

This was the result of a meme where people give you titles, and you give summaries of the non-existent story. So the title and summary of this story existed for a long time before the story itself. It was never intended to be written... but I love it because when I did find a way to write it, I learned something myself.

2) In Truth, Beauty (Harry Potter/Buffy)
Sometimes love needs a little nudge; sometimes love needs a wallop on the head.

I invented a pairing! At least, I don't think anyone else has written Snape/Anya!
The idea took hold of me one Saturday morning, and I wrote the first story then and there. I never imagined at the time that there would be more than one story, but I kept on popping out drabbles set in this universe for [livejournal.com profile] tthdrabbles, and thus a series was born.
Perhaps someday I will put them all together into a coherent narrative, but the idea is rather daunting, so I probably won't, and the timeline will remain only in my mind.

3) Complications (Doctor Who/Torchwood)
They hadn't checked to see if there were any side-effects. (AU. Set just after 'A Day In The Death'.)

I'm rather proud of this one, but I don't mention it a lot because there are other stories which tend to take pride of place first ("Necessity" and "Verity"). I like it because it has a cool concept, which I made plausible, but also because (thanks to my beta) it has really good characterisation too. It's one of mine that I do re-read and re-enjoy.

ETA:
4) Albus Dumbledore: Callous Manipulator or Kindly Fool?
This isn't fic, it's canon analysis, but I'm rather proud of putting together my niggles about Albus Dumbledore and canon plotholes related to him. It had been bubbling on the back burner for a while, but I finally got it all down.

I admit, I though of throwing in an icon post...

Yes, I've only made about four and a half thousand... (hey, some people manage that in a month :)

I stuck to stories. Maybe something will come up later in the meme...
