Sugar and Spice, not always nice

And I continue the exploration of flavourness in icecream...

Experiment #21: Christmas Spices Optifast ice cream
Recipe: 3 pkts vanilla Optifast milkshake powder, 600ml water, 6 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cloves, 6 tsp nutmeg, 6 tsp powdered ginger, 18 tsp Splenda granular; mix dry ingredients, then add the water.
Result: Dissappointment. Something is too bitter, maybe it's the cloves. The nutmeg gets lost in the other flavours, which I kind of expected. The ginger leaves too much of a warm-spicy aftertaste. Or maybe it's the ginger and cinnamon combined that do it.
Lessons: A nice idea, but the proportions of the spices need to be adjusted.

Perhaps you should find a favorite holiday cookie or cake recipe, and try the proportions of spices in that?

There's the snag that freezing as opposed to cooking may affect the way the spices develop their flavour. It may need some tweaking to get the ideal balance.
