Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day 6 (belated)
Day 6
In your own space, pimp three comms or challenges and explain why you love them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
First one is obvious:
fancake
I only recently discovered this comm, but I love it. It's a multi-fandom themed rec comm. As those who follow
quiz_sshg know, having a collection of themed recs is lovely. Having a collection of themed recs for lots of different fandoms instead of one sub-genre of one fandom is even more lovely if one is a multi-fandom person like me.
Yes, I've been contributing. This month's "theme" is an amnesty, which means one is free to post on any of the previous themes - which means I've got a LOT of reccing to do! I know I will not manage to rec everything I could rec, but that's okay.
Second and Third ones stumped me for a while, which is one reason why I didn't post this on the day I was supposed to.
Second one is another reccing com:
calufrax
This one isn't multi-fandom, it's Doctor Who, and it's also limited to reccing stories that are at A Teaspoon And An Open Mind, but that's okay, since many people post at Teaspoon. Calufrax doesn't have the frenetic activity of Fancake, because the way it works is that one person is posting for a week, rather than it being a free-for-all. This allows one to follow up the recs at a more leisurely pace. I've found a lot of good Doctor Who stories via Calufrax.
Third one is
b7friday, a weekly ficlet challenge comm that has been running since 2004! It's a relaxed place; the weekly topic gets posted on Fridays, and people post their responses during the following week.
I feel somewhat guilty because I haven't posted there for a while (look, SSHG has consumed my life!). And yes, it has slowed down recently, but, hey, lookee here, maybe my mentioning it will bring new souls for the faith!
